Homicide Investigation in Fairfield

On Saturday October 14, 2023, at 11:53pm Jefferson County deputies responded to a report of a person down in the roadway in the 200 block of 52nd Street in Fairfield.  Deputies arrived and found an injured man being attended to by witnesses.  The witnesses reported seeing a vehicle fleeing the area quickly and then observing a man on the ground. The man appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was attended to by medical personnel but died on the scene.  Sheriff’s detectives are talking with witnesses and reviewing video from the area.  The body was released to the Jefferson County Coroner’s office for examination.  If anyone has information about this incident, they are asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.
