Homicide Investigation

At approximately 10:30 AM this morning, patrol deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, performed a welfare check at a residence located at 216 2nd Avenue, Mulga, AL.  Upon making entry, a Black female victim was discovered laying on the floor and unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Graysville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

At some point before 3:00 PM, Jefferson County Detectives were informed that shots were fired near Glascow Hollow Road and Cherry Avenue in Graysville AL.  It was also learned that a possible male suspect in the homicide that occurred at 216 2nd Avenue, Mulga, AL was injured during the shooting.  He was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  There were no additional injuries reported.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the homicide that was discovered at 216 2nd Avenue, Mulga, AL. this morning.  The Alabama Bureau of Investigation will investigate the case involving the shooting near Glascow Hollow Road and Cherry Avenue in Graysville, AL.
