Birmingham, AL 11/25/2017

Just after 7:30 last night deputies were called to a home in the 1100 block of Hudson Avenue in the Eastern Valley area to investigate a report of a shooting.

Deputies arrived to find 66-year-old Janice Stamps suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital where she died.

Information from the scene indicates that the victim had been arguing with her brother. The brother pulled a handgun and shot the victim.

The suspect, 62-year-old Thomas Hopkins, told deputies  he shot his sister because she was yelling at him. He was arrested and charged with Murder. Thomas Hopkins remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $75,000.
