Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a homicide investigation after a teen was shot in northeastern Jefferson County.
Just after 1:00 pm today deputies responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 4400 block of Winchester Hills Way. They arrived to find a 17-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Information at the scene is that the victim was familiar with the suspect and went outside to meet them. When the victim approached the suspect pulled a gun and began shooting. It appears the victim was targeted and this was not a random act. After firing the shots the suspect fled the scene in mid sized green sedan.
