At approximately 11:21 a.m. this morning, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the Budgetel Inns & Suites, located at 6400 Kelco Place, Fairfield, Alabama, to investigate a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a barricaded suspect who was in one of the rooms of the business. The 28-year-old male suspect soon surrendered to deputies without incident. The 35-year-old male victim died at the scene. The victim suffered from apparent gunshot wounds.
