Birmingham, AL 04/29/2016

At about 5:45 pm yesterday evening deputies responded to a person shot in the 500 block of 16th Terrace NW. They arrived to find a 23 year old woman lying on the front porch of a residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The 43 year old male shooter fled the scene.

What we know so far is that the woman that was shot went to the house for a confrontation after it was alleged that her teen aged sister had an altercation with the shooters teen age son earlier in the day. She was accompanied by several others. It went downhill from there. Sheriff’s detectives are expected to question the shooter later today. We will be able to release more information when we have the truth of what happened and why sorted out.

The woman shot has been identified as 23 year old Jasmine Lashenay Nixon of Birmingham.
