Hueytown Man Charged with Assaulting Deputy

A 19-year-old man was arrested yesterday after a deputy was assaulted while attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a Midfield residence.

 

Just after 11:00 am yesterday morning deputies went to a residence in the 300 block of Bessemer Super Highway to serve a felony arrest warrant.

 

Once inside, the deputies were confronted by a 19-year-old male who knocked a deputy to the floor causing an injury to his head. The wanted person originally sought by deputies was not home. 

 

The deputy was treated and released from an area hospital.

Sheriff’s Detectives obtained arrest warrants for 19-year-old Gabriel Erby of Hueytown charging him with Assault 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $18,000.
