At approximately 06:35 this morning, deputies working in the Jefferson County Jail discovered a 49-year-old male inmate unresponsive in his cell. Medical personnel immediately responded to the location and administered life-saving treatment. The victim was unable to be revived.
Detectives responded to the jail to conduct an investigation. There was no trauma indicated during the initial inspection and no foul play is suspected. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will make the final determination of the cause of death.
