Jefferson County Deputies Arrest Drug Dealers After Chase

On May 23, 2019 at 2:26pm the Street Crimes Unit of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle that had a switched tag.  The vehicle refused to stop and led deputies on a chase through Midfield, Fairfield and Birmingham.  The Sheriff’s Helicopter Star 1 covered the pursuit and helped to apprehend the offenders.  During the pursuit the driver was observed dumping a white powdery substance out of the vehicle.  The passenger was observed throwing a gun out of the window. The gun was recovered but the white substance could not be recovered.  Sheriff’s Deputies were finally able to get the vehicle stopped in the 1500 block of Griffen Street in Midfield.  Deputies were able to take the men into custody after a brief struggle with both.

The gun was found to be stolen out of Tuscaloosa and the vehicle was found to be stolen out of Tennessee.  Deputies recovered marijuana, heroin and a small amount of cocaine.

The offenders are identified  as 29 year old Cardarius Martez Watson and 25 year old Kyre Teruel Robinson.

Watson is charged with Assault 2nd degree bond $15,000.00, Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance bond $15,000.00, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia bond $5000.00, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance bond $15,000.00, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree bond $6000.00, Tampering with Physical Evidence bond $3000.00, Reckless Endangerment bond $3000.00, Attempting to Elude bond $3000.00, Resisting Arrest bond $3000.00 and Receiving Stolen Property 1st degree bond $15,000.00.

Robinson is charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance bond $15,000.00, Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree bond $6000.00, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance bond $15,000.00, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd degree bond $15,000.00, Tampering with Physical Evidence bond $3000.00, Resisting Arrest bond $3000.00 and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance bond $15,000.00
