Juvenile Pedestrian Struck Crossing Centerpoint Parkway

On Thursday, October 22, 2020 at approximately 6:30 PM, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the intersection of Centerpoint Parkway and 13th Avenue NE.  According to reports, an off-duty Birmingham Police Officer was traveling home on Centerpoint Parkway in his personal vehicle, when a 17 year old pedestrian, wearing dark colored clothing, ran in front of the officer’s car.  The officer’s vehicle struck the juvenile, injuring him.

The juvenile was transported to Children’s Hospital where he is being treated with serious injuries.  The officer is cooperating fully with the investigation.  The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.
