A 29 year old man from Cropwell, AL was arrested after a six hour standoff in Mt. Olive this morning.

Just before 1:00 am today deputies were called to investigate a report of a person shooting outside a home in the 1400 block of Posey Circle in Mt. Olive. When they arrived no one was outside. Deputies learned that a man who lived at the house was shooting, but had gone back inside. The man’s two small children were inside as well. His wife was at work.

Deputies contacted the man by telephone, but he became irate and refused to come outside to speak with them or let them check on his children. Negotiators and SWAT personnel were called to the scene. The man’s wife came home and he allowed the children to come out. They were not harmed.

Just after 7:00 am SWAT members entered the home and arrested the man.

29 year old Dallas Lindsey Perkins was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $600.
