On Friday September 24, 2021 at approximately 9:47pm Jefferson County Deputies were alerted to shots fired outside the Fairfield football stadium.  Deputies responded to the location behind the visitors side of the stadium and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his buttocks.  The victim was attending a tailgating event in the parking lot of the stadium when he was struck.  The gunshots appear to have come from an area near an abandoned house.  The victim does not believe that he was targeted.  Deputies searched the area but did not locate the offender.  The victim was transported to the hospital with a non- life threatening wound.  Deputies are still in the area at this time. Detectives and evidence technicians are on the scene.  The remainder of the football game was postponed until Saturday.
