Midfield Man Injured by Gunfire

Just after 2:00 AM this morning, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 200 block of 7th Street in Midfield on the report of a person who had been shot inside a home.  Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots outside.  It is believed that one of those bullets struck a male victim while he was in his bed asleep.  The 67-year-old male victim was transported to UAB Hospital with significant injuries.  During the investigation, it was found that other homes had been struck by bullets but there were no additional injuries reported.  There is currently no one in custody for the shooting.  No motive has been established at this time.
