The search for 82-year-old Nora Wilson Hughes of Trafford reported missing Tuesday has now become a death investigation. Shortly after 2:00 pm today volunteer searchers accompanied by Sheriff’s Office K9 search teams located her body in a creek about a quarter of a mile from where she was last seen.
Mrs. Hughes was reported missing about noon on Tuesday from the home she shared with her daughter in the 3300 block of Smith Mill Road in Trafford. She was last seen walking around the yard of the home earlier in the morning. Sheriff’s Office personnel including K9 search teams began a ground search that afternoon. A helicopter from ALEA was brought in to aid in the search. The initial search was suspended as darkness fell on the first night, but resumed the next morning. When she was not located by nightfall on Wednesday the search was again suspended. It resumed this morning with Sheriff’s Office K9 teams, EMA personnel, and volunteers.
There is no indication of foul play and cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
