At approximately 10:30 AM yesterday morning, officers from the Bossier City Police Department in Louisianna responded to a shooting that occurred at a Valero Gas Station on Industrial Drive off of interstate 20. According to news reports, there were multiple people shot, including one Bossier City Police Officer. The offender in these shootings was taken into custody. He has since been identified as 50-year-old, Cortrell Burks. Burks is the suspect in a crime spree that started at his girlfriend’s apartment on 20th Street NE in Center Point on Sunday afternoon. It is also thought that Burks traveled to his girlfriend’s mother’s home and fired multiple shots into the home, striking 4 people. He then fled the area and has been on the run since.
Burks has an outstanding warrant for the murder he committed in Jefferson County. It is currently unknown when he will be transported back to Jefferson County to face those charges in court. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will work with officials in Bossier City in order to ensure the quickest and most thorough resolution to these horrific crimes.
