On September 19, 2024, detectives with the Jefferson County Vice and Narcotics Division coordinated with other specialized units of the Bessemer Division to address a Crime Stopper Tip pertaining to drugs being sold in the Bessemer area. Detectives attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a Chevrolet HHR in the 7100 block of Aaron Aronov Drive in Fairfield. The suspect refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued through the Ensley and Brighton areas until the suspect lost control of his vehicle and wrecked at 48th Street and Huntsville Avenue in Brighton. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to UAB Hospital as a precaution and later taken to the Jefferson County Jail. The passenger of the vehicle left the scene.
During the course of the pursuit, a marked unit was involved in an accident at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Woodward Road in Fairfield, AL with an unrelated citizen’s vehicle. The driver of the citizen’s vehicle was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Also, near 48th Street and Huntsville Avenue, another Sheriff’s Office vehicle could not stop in a graveled area and struck a cinderblock wall causing minor damage to the wall and the unmarked vehicle. There were no reported injuries.
The suspect has been identified as: Jarvis Anjuan Allen, age, 44. The suspect has been charged with: Trafficking Fentanyl, with a $1,000,000.00 bond; Trafficking Ecstasy, under a $1,000,000.00 bond; Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance with a $30,000 bond; Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, with a $10,000.00 bond; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, with a $6,000.00 bond; and Felony Fleeing and Eluding, with a $30,000.00 bond. Total bond: $2,076,000.00. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
The passenger of the vehicle has now been identified as: Braylin Allen, age, 19. The suspect turned himself in to the Jefferson County Jail on September 21, 2024. He has been charged with Attempting to Elude, with a $6,000.00 bond. The suspect is out on bond from the Jefferson County Jail.
Narcotics seized: 40 grams of Fentanyl, 28 Grams of Ecstasy, 0.67 grams of Methamphetamine, 604 Grams of Marijuana, 9 grams of Cocaine
Weapons seized: FN 5.7 Pistol
Additional Items Seized: 4 cell phones and two digital scales
