On Wednesday June 25, 2025, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives along with the Sheriff’s Neighborhood Enforcement Team (SNET), attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of Goodwin Rd. and Flagstone St. in the Pinson area. The suspect refused to stop and led detectives and SNET on a brief pursuit that ended when the suspect drove his vehicle into a ravine near the intersection of Wood Dr. and Sweeney Hollow Rd. The suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.
The suspect has been identified as: Javon Everson, age, 30. Everson has been charged with Drug Trafficking with a $1,500,000.00 bond; Attempting to Elude a Police Officer with a $30,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun Conversion Device with a $15,000.00 bond; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with a $10,000.00 bond; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a $6,000.00 bond; and Tampering with Physical Evidence with a $6,000.00 bond. Total bond: $1,567,000.00. The suspect is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail.
Sheriff Mark Pettway stated, “This was a successful operation run by our Team in which dangerous drugs and weapons were taken off the streets of Jefferson County. Keeping the citizens of Jefferson County safe is my number one priority.”
Narcotics seized: 13.8g of Fentanyl, 3g of crack cocaine
Weapons seized: Anderson Manufacturing AR-15 .300 Blackout with auto sear; American Tactical AR-15 .556 cal.; 2 Glock Model 19 9mm; and a Palmetto State 9mm Handgun
Money seized: $3,404.00
Additional items seized: Digital scales; packaging material; ammunition; and weapon magazines
