At approximately 3:40 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 5300 block of Warrior Jasper Road on a two-vehicle collision with injuries. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a Toyota Corolla had crossed into the lane of oncoming traffic and collided with a Volkswagen Volt head on. The unidentified male driver of the Corolla was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver of the Volt was airlifted to UAB Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will work to identify the driver of the Corolla. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
