Just after 2:00 PM today, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 700 block of Mohave Drive in Forestdale on reports of shots fired. Upon arrival deputies located a 17-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived on scene and attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful.
Detectives investigating the case were able to develop a suspect in the shooting and subsequently placed 18-year-old Jaymon Battle under arrest. Battle is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on the charge of murder. In accordance with Aniah’s Law, the charge currently has no bond. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
