Pair of Burglary Suspects Arrested After Short Foot Chase

Birmingham, AL 05/20/2016

At about 11:00 am yesterday morning deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 400 block of 13th Terrace NW in Center Point. It was reported that two black males had been seen breaking into the home and then leaving with electronic, shoes and other items. The suspects placed the items ina a white Mitsubishi Gallant and fled the scene.

A description of the suspects and their vehicle was broadcast to deputies in the area. A deputy soon spotted the car at Parkway East and Red Lane Road. When the car was stopped both suspects fled on foot. Other deputies and officers from the Birmingham Police Department arrived to assist and both suspects were captured. The stolen property was returned to the victim.

They are identified as 21 year old Jamarcus Keonte McKinney and 21 year old Dadarrius Keywond Heywood both of Bessemer. The pair was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Attempt to Elude and Resisting Arrest. They remain in jail on bonds totaling $19,000 each.
