Pair of Men Arrested for Trafficking Meth

Over nine ounces of methamphetamine was discovered during a traffic stop in McCalla yesterday afternoon.

Just after 2:00 pm yesterday afternoon a deputy spotted a white Nissan Altima being driven by a man who was known to be wanted for failure to appear in court.

A traffic stop was conducted on Bell Hill Road near Eastern Valley Road. The driver was arrested for outstanding warrants. The passenger was found to have outstanding warrants as well and was arrested.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies discovered nine ounces of meth, prescription narcotics, cash, and drug paraphernalia. The street value of the meth is estimated at $20,000.

38-year-old Christopher R Ramey and 40-year-old Brian Venable were charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Ramey remains in jail with bonds totaling $101,500. He had been free on bond after being arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine in May of this year.

Venable remains in jail with no bond.
