At approximately 6:50 AM today, Jefferson County deputies responded to reports of a body lying on the roadway at Iceland Avenue near Utica Place.  A passerby had seen the body and contacted emergency personnel.  It was also reported that there were several dogs around the body.  Medical personnel were able to determine that the subject was deceased, but the dogs were prohibiting detectives from effectively investigating the incident.

Animal control was contacted and set traps to capture the dogs.  Six dogs were safely trapped and are being transported to Animal Control facilities.  It is unknown at this time if the dogs were involved in the death of the subject.

The Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an investigation into the cause of death and attempt to identify the subject.  Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
