Pleasant Grove Man Arrested for Burglary near Hueytown

Just before noon yesterday Sheriff’s deputies and Hueytown Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 1100 block of Rock Creek Road.

Information at scene was that the two teens were home alone when the suspect knocked on the door. When they did not answer the door he drove to the rear of the house. He entered the home through a window. The teens hid in a laundry room as the suspect moved through the house.

Watkins took electronics from inside the home and left out the back door where he was confronted and taken into custody by Hueytown Police patrolling nearby. The suspect was turned over to Sheriff’s deputies and placed under arrest.

30-year-old Matthew Ryan Watkins of Pleasant Grove is charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Theft of Property 2nd Degree, and Possession of Burglary Tools. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $52,500.
