Just before 4:00 AM on February 12th, deputies were dispatched to the 1600 block of Forestdale Plaza to investigate a report of a stolen ATM.  After reviewing evidence, it was determined that the thieves used a garbage truck and a chain to uproot the ATM from its base.  The ATM was recovered in the 1300 block of Heflin Avenue shortly after 4:00 AM, as deputies were able to follow a debris trail.

Video footage shows two suspects dressed in all black, with their faces covered, connecting a chain with a tow hook to the ATM.  The chain was connected to a garbage truck, that was later determined to have been stolen out of the city of Birmingham.  Birmingham Police Department is investigating the theft of the truck.

Detectives are asking if anyone has information that may help to identify the suspects depicted in the photographs that they contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or to remain anonymous, you may contact Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
