Just after 11:30 Sunday night deputies were called to investigate a robbery that occurred at convenience store in the 5700 block of Warrior River Road.
The clerk reported that two suspicious people entered the store wearing hoodies. One of them was a white male wearing a black hoodie and black pants armed with brass knuckles. The second was wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans. The clerk believed the second suspect could possibly have been a female.
The suspect in the black hoodie asked for a pack of cigarettes. When the clerk reached for the cigarettes the suspect attempted to jump over the counter and grab the cash register. The clerk pushed him back across the counter. After a brief struggle both suspects fled the store with nothing. They left in an unknown vehicle.
Surveillance photos of the suspects were shared with local media in an effort to identify them. On Thursday April 28 detectives received a tip that provided the identity and the address of the suspects. Deputies went to the address on Alliance Road and discovered that the female suspect was in court in Birmingham and the male suspect had accompanied her. Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle near the Jefferson County Courthouse in Birmingham. The male suspect was located sitting on the steps in front of the courthouse. He was taken into custody without incident. The female suspect was located in the courtroom and was taken into custody following her court appearance.
They suspects are identified as 30 year old Straden Hunter McCarty and 22 year old Olivia Victoria Williams both of Oak Grove. Both are charged with Robbery 1st Degree and remain in the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer. McCarty has bond set at $100,000 and Williams has bond set at $60,000.
