Shades Valley Student Tip Leads to Arrest

On August 28, 2019 a Shades Valley High School student informed the school administrators and a Jefferson County School Resource Officer of a firearm on the school campus. With the information given by the student, the School Resource Officer acted quickly. All facilities were locked down until the student carrying the firearm was located. The weapon was found inside a gym bag and secured. After further investigation it was determine that the firearm was a BB gun that looked identical to a real firearm. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office would like to applaud the act of bravery and trust the students at Shades Valley High School have placed in the school administration and School Resource Program.
