Sheriff’s Office Assisting Brighton Police with Homicide Investigation

Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a homicide investigation in the City of Brighton at the request of the Brighton Police Department.

Shortly before 9:00 am this morning the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Brighton Police Department to request assistance with a shooting investigation at a residence in the 100 block of Parker Springs Street.

It was reported that an adult male had been shot. Deputies arrived to find a 68-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound laying the front yard. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Early information is that the victim arrived home to find an armed intruder inside his house. The suspect shot the victim inside the home. The victim fled to the front yard where he was found.

The investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as they become available. The name of the victim is withheld pending notification of family members.
