Sheriff’s Office Conducting Shooting Investigation

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in the Bagley community that left one person dead and two people injured.

At about 10:00 am this morning deputies responded to a report of a person being shot at a business in the 7100 block of Old Jasper Highway in Bagley. They arrived to find two adult males suffering gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced dead on the scene. The other was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. A third adult male also suffering from a gunshot wound was found walking near the business. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Information on the scene is that an employee of the business exchanged gunfire with two other men in the parking lot. One of the men was struck in the chest and died on the scene. The second man was struck in the side and fled the scene on foot. He was captured a short distance away. The employee was struck in the back.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting.
