Just before 2:00 pm today deputies were called to investigate a single car accident in the 7300 block of Old Tuscaloosa Highway. They arrived to find a 13 year old male passenger severely injured and trapped inside the car. The mother of the teen had been driving. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The teen was transported to an area hospital.
Information on the scene is that the car was traveling west on Old Tuscaloosa Highway when the driver lost control. The car left the road and struck a utility pole.
Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
