Sheriff’s Office Investigating Homicide

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after the body of an adult male was discovered in the McCalla.

About 3:30 yesterday afternoon Sheriff’s detectives were contacted by Bessemer Police detectives requesting assistance in locating a body. Bessemer Police received a tip through Crime Stoppers that indicated the victim had been murdered and the body placed behind a vacant home in the 7300 block of Springer Road in McCalla.

Deputies and Bessemer Police went to the area and located human remains behind a vacant house. The remains were badly decomposed. Positive identification and cause of death have not yet been determined.
