About 7:30 this evening deputies were called to Hartford Drive in the City of Birmingham to investigate a report of a person having been shot.
It was determined that the adult male victim had been shot in the parking lot of nearby Parkway Villa Apartments in 100 block of 14th Avenue NE in Center Point. After being shot the victim ran through a wooded area to Hartford Drive.
The victim was transported to an area hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown at the time of this release of information.
It is believed this assault is related to a fight the victim was involved in last night.
The investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as they become available.
