Shooting in Brighton Leaves One in Critical Condition

Around 7:15 PM on Friday, April 15, 2022, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies received numerous calls of shots fired in the 4300 block of West Street in Brighton.  Deputies arrived to find an extremely chaotic scene, spread over multiple locations, but were unable to locate a gunshot victim.  During the investigation, it was discovered that a 22-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound, had been transported to UAB Hospital by personal vehicle from West Street.  His injuries were life-threatening.

Two other people were injured while fleeing the scene.  Neither victim had been shot.  One was transported from the scene by ambulance to UAB Hospital for treatment of his injury, the other declined medical treatment.
