Shooting Investigation Now a Homicide Investigation

Birmingham, AL 11/14/2017

At about 6:00 last Friday evening deputies responded to a report of a shooting at an address in the 200 block of 1st Avenue in Mulga.

They arrived to find an adult male victim in the front seat of a vehicle suffering an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Information at the scene is that the victim had just arrived and was sitting in his car in front of the residence when a black Tahoe with tinted windows pulled up. A passenger got out of the Tahoe and shot the victim. The suspect got back into the SUV and fled the scene.

The victim died at the hospital on Monday. He has been identified as 52-year-old Jeffery Douglas Jones of Adamsville.
