Birmingham, AL 12/09/2016

At about 8:00 pm last night deputies were called to a home in the 2200 block of 7th Street NE in Center Point to investigate a report of a person who had been shot.

They arrived to find an adult male lying in the driveway suffering a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Initially, it was reported that three men in a red sedan pulled up in front of the house and shots were fired from inside the car striking the victim one time.

Detectives questioned the victim and concluded that he was involved in a drug deal and was shot while getting out of the suspect’s vehicle.

The person shot has not identified anyone involved. This was not a “drive-by shooting” as originally reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
