Birmingham, AL 09/16/2016

Just after 4:00 pm yesterday afternoon deputies responded to a report of shots being fired in the 2400 block of Hampstead Drive in Grayson Valley. They arrived to find
two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sheriff’s detectives learned that the two victims and a third man had been at the residence visiting a female friend. As they were leaving the brother of the female friend fired shots into their car. The three fled the area and were found walking a short distance away after abandoning their car. Both victims were treated and released from a local hospital.

The victims reported that the shooting stemmed from an argument over money the shooter believed was owed to him.

The investigation is ongoing. The name of the suspect is withheld pending formal charges.
