Skeletal Remains Found in Sylvan Springs

On November 26, 2020 at approximately 1:45 PM, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a wooded area in the Sylvan Springs area. It was reported that an individual had been walking in the woods behind his mothers home and came upon a metal building that had been overtaken by brush. The individual managed to open the building to see inside. Once inside he saw what appeared to be human skeletal remains. Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed the findings. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office retrieved the remains and will conduct an autopsy to attempt to confirm the cause of death and identity of the deceased.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate the events surrounding the person’s death.
