Suspect Arrested in Alleged Road Rage Incident

At approximately 1:45 PM on February 6, 2024, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Sugar Ray Dr. and Bessemer Super Highway on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival deputies spoke with the victim who advised that he and another the driver of another vehicle had been involved in what was thought to be a road rage incident.  During the incident, the driver of the other vehicle pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and fired shots into his car.  The victim was struck in the hip and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Bessemer-Cutoff Division were able to obtain a description of the offender’s vehicle as well as gain a license plate number.  The information was distributed to neighboring police agencies.  The Pleasant Grove Police Department located the vehicle their city, detained the occupants and notified Jefferson County detectives.  With the cooperation of all involved parties, warrants were issued against 19-year-old Da’marriya De’vhon Carr.

Carr was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail where he was charged with attempted murder.  Carr’s bond was set at $30,000.00.
