At about 4:15 this afternoon deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident in which a 16 year old girl jumped from and was struck by the car she was riding in.
The accident happened in the 100 block of 14th Avenue NW in Center Point. Deputies and paramedics arrived to find a teen aged female victim suffering serious injuries. She was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Information at the scene is that the girl was riding in the front passenger seat of a car driven by an 18-year-old male friend. As the car traveled along 14th Avenue NW, she jumped out and fell. When she did so she was struck by the car she had been riding in. The driver is cooperating with the investigation and is currently being questioned. The Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is on the scene.
