Birmingham, AL 12/22/2016
About 4:15 this morning deputies were called to the 1600 block of Bradford Lane in the Eastern Valley area to investigate a report of a prowler. It was reported that a man walking his dog had seen a suspicious car pull up to a neighbor’s house. He returned home and checked his surveillance system. Video footage showed two suspects walking up to cars in the area and trying to open the doors.
Deputies arrived and located the car. Upon seeing deputies the driver sped off. A chase ensued that traveled Eastern Valley Road to I-459 South and then on to I-59 North. The chase traveled north on I-59 until the driver lost control and struck a median barrier near 18th Street in Bessemer. There were no serious injuries. Three suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. All three were taken into custody.
Deputies discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from a home in Adamsville. Inside the car, deputies found several items that are believed to have been taken during car break-ins overnight.
All three suspects are adult males from Birmingham. Their names are withheld pending formal charges which are expected later today.
