Toddler Shot

At approximately 2:03 p.m. this afternoon, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Hidden Valley Trailer Park, Birmingham, Alabama to investigate a report of a child being shot. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 2-year-old male victim, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Center Point Fire and Rescue transported the victim to Children’s Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the 2-year-old male victim was in a vehicle with his mother and an adult male.  The toddler discovered a firearm while in the vehicle and accidently shot himself.

The case is still under investigation.
