A man and woman have been arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine.
On Friday April 6, Sheriff’s Narcotics investigators conducted a surveillance detail as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale of methamphetamine in northeast Jefferson County.
During the detail a traffic stop was conducted on a stolen vehicle in the 2100 block of 6th Avenue South in Birmingham. The vehicle was occupied by 35-year-old Johnrell Quincy Dillard and 36-year-old Candice Cherie Martin, both of Birmingham.
The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 70 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of heroin, a handgun, and drug paraphernalia and the recovery of a stolen rental vehicle.
Dillard and Martin were arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await formal charges.
On April 7, investigators obtained arrest warrants formally charging the pair with Trafficking Methamphetamine. Bond was set at $100,000 each.
The case will be reviewed with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms for possible federal gun charges against Dillard.
