Just before 10:00 AM today, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called to Shady Grove Road at the Bluff Ridge Bridge on reports of a single vehicle accident. An SUV had apparently struck the side of the bridge and left the roadway. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. The Shady Grove Fire Department arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Deputies were unable to make an identification of the deceased driver.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy in an attempt to make a positive identification of the victim.
