***UPDATE*** Grayson Valley Drive Shooting Arrest

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, July 12, 2024, a suspect in a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at approximately 11:40 p.m., in the 2300 block of Grayson Valley Drive, Birmingham, AL, was captured by the Tennessee State Patrol.   The victims of the shooting were a 49-year-old male and a 15-year-old female.

Sheriff Mark Pettway stated, “The coordination of our detective, the Birmingham and Knoxville FBI Field Offices and the Tennessee State Patrol worked together in apprehending this suspect quickly and without incident.  This is a wonderful example of how partnerships like this keep communities safe.”

The suspect has been identified as:

Cristopher Andrew Perine, 48, of Birmingham, AL.  Two counts of Attempted Murder, under a $60,000.00 bond each; 1 count of Domestic Violence 1st degree, under no bond and 1 count of Domestic Violence 3rd degree, under a $6,000.00 bond have been obtained against the suspect.

The suspect is in the custody of the Loudon County Jail and is awaiting transfer to the Jefferson County Jail.
