Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detectives are still investigating the shooting of two people at the Chateau Glen Oaks Apartments in Fairfield.  The 21-year-old male victim in the shooting, sadly, has succumbed to his injuries. The 24-year-old female victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

It is believed that the shooting is the result of an attempted robbery, as detectives located a paper bag containing cash near where the male victim was shot.  Witnesses state that a black male, wearing all black clothing, came from behind the apartments shooting at the male victim.  The female victim was getting her child from her vehicle and was struck by gunfire.  It is not believed that she was the target of the shooting.  The child is uninjured.

Should anyone have information on the suspect in this shooting, please contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-5900 or you may call Crime Stoppers at 205-325-7777.
