Two men are in custody charged with attempted murder and a third is at large following the shooting of a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy. The deputy was shot last night while executing a drug search warrant in southwest Birmingham.
25 year old Stephen Lamar Gadson of Birmingham was shot in the shoulder during the exchange of gunfire inside the home in the 2900 block of Dowell Avenue SW. He was treated and released from UAB Hospital. Once released, he was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder. Bond is set at $200,000.
21 year old Antaurean Markese Riggs of Birmingham was arrested on the scene. He remains in the Jefferson County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder with bond set at $200,000.
24 year old Antuan Cornell Riggs of Birmingham was shot in the ankle and fled the scene. He was able to get a ride away from the area and remains at large. He also faces charges of Attempted Murder. The U.S. Marshal’s Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.
