Warrant Issued in Center Point Homicide

Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office have obtained a warrant against 50-year-old Cortrell Montesez Burks for the murder of 40-year-old Erica Williams.  Williams was found deceased in her 20th Avenue NE apartment yesterday.  Detectives had named Burks as a person of interest, but have obtained enough information to seek warrants from the District Attorney’s Office against him.  The District Attorney’s Office confirmed the warrants today for the charge of murder.  He has no bond on this charge.

Burks may be driving a 2005 black Nissan Armada bearing tag #1A0TBH8.  He is 6’2″ tall and weighs approximately 250 lbs.  If you have seen Cortrell Burks or the vehicle, please call 911.  You may also call Crime Stoppers with any additional information at 205-254-7777.
