On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at approximately 12:24 a.m., deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 7900 block of Highway 75 North in Pinson, Alabama, to investigate a report of multiple individuals being shot.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered three victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds: a 21-year-old male, an 18-year-old male, and an 18-year-old female. Palmerdale Fire & Rescue, Center Point Fire & Rescue, and Trussville Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals. Deputies also learned that a fourth victim, a 20-year-old female, had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a verbal and physical altercation escalated and resulted in gunfire.
The suspect, identified as Steven Tyler Whitehead, 27, was initially charged with three counts of Attempted Murder. Each charge carries a bond of $60,000, for a total bond of $180,000. Whitehead was taken into custody and remains at the Jefferson County Jail. Additional charges were pending as the investigation continued.
On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, an additional charge of Murder was filed against Whitehead. The murder warrant carries no bond. He remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.
