On Monday morning, July 13, 2026, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Jail Staff and Narcotics Detectives conducted an investigation into an allegation that someone was bringing illegal contraband into the Jefferson County Jail.
The result of the investigation led to the arrest of a female contract kitchen worker. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Yolanda Garrett. Garrett has been charged with Promoting Prison Contraband with a bond of $500 and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with a bond of $2,500.
Garrett has since posted bond and been released from the Jefferson County Jail.
