The suspect who left empty-handed after passing a robbery note to a drive through bank teller has been arrested.

Just before 1:30 on August 29, an adult male pulled into the drive through at Regions Bank in Graysville. He passed the teller a note demanding money in $50 and $100 denominations be placed in a plastic bag and passed back to him. He drove off without being given any money.

On October 6, the suspect returned to the bank without the disguise. He had an account at the bank and was there to conduct legal business. He was recognized as the suspect and security was notified. He left before deputies arrived.

He was subsequently identified as 46-year-old Gary Donnell Speights of Pratt City. On October 7, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with Robbery 3rd Degree. He was arrested later that day at his home. Speights denied being involved in the robbery.

Speights posted bond over the weekend and was released pending court.
