Rodney Watters

Michele Meadows

Just before noon on January 25, deputies responded to a report of a robbery at the Family Dollar Store located at 1644 Forestdale Blvd. While they were on the way, they received information that two men were fighting in the parking lot.

Once on scene deputies separated the men. It was learned that the suspect, 46-year-old Rodney Dewayne Watters and a woman later identified as 48-year-old Michele Renee Meadows of Birmingham had come into the store and gathered up several items. The pair then attempted to leave the store without paying for the merchandise. A female store employee approached Watters and attempted to have him pay for the merchandise or give it back. Watters attacked the employee and began fighting with her. During this time the employee’s husband arrived to pick her up. He attempted to intervene and Watters began fighting with him. While the fight was occurring, Michele Meadows fled the store with a bag of merchandise.

Watters was taken into custody on the scene and Meadows was found on foot a short distance away and also arrested.

Rodney Dewayne Watters was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Illegal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Register as an Ex-Felon. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail where four days later he posted bond and was released pending court proceedings.

Michele Meadows was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree and Failure to Register as an Ex-Felon and remains in the Jefferson County Jail under bonds set at $10,300.00.
